For the Enslaved
Human Trafficking and prostitution are problems of enormous scale and injustice – particularly in Chicago, which the New York Times labeled as the North American Human Trafficking capital in 2008. We invite you to join with HFC as we work to educate ourselves on the problem and to end this gross injustice. Towards that end, HFC works with the following local organizations:
Breakthrough Urban Ministries | Traffick Free
To get involved or learn more about human trafficking, please contact the HFC office.
For the Mother
Without enough emotional support and practical resources, women facing unplanned pregnancies can often feel alone, overwhelmed and uncertain. Caris is a unique, Christian pregnancy counseling agency that provides the support and resources a woman needs to have hope for her future and the future of her child. Hope for Chicago and its volunteers can demonstrate God’s love to women facing unplanned pregnancies by getting involved with Caris! Find out more at www.supportcaris.org or call us at 312-229-5701.
HFC volunteers can get involved by hosting showers for Caris clients, participating in diaper drives and other creative endeavors. To get involved or find out more information, please contact HFC team lead Jamie Devins at jmdevins@gmail.com.
For the Urban Poor
Despite the city’s Plan to End Homelessness, the numbers of homeless Chicagoans is on the rise. In fact, a study conducted by the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless reported 93,780 persons who were homeless in Chicago during the 2010-2011 school year, a 5.5% increase from the previous year. HFC is involved in the following ministries among Chicago’s homeless:
Intersection Cafe takes a unique approach to “doing community” in Chicago’s west side. Each Friday evening (5:30pm-8pm) a diverse group of people literally “intersect”. They come together at Holy Trinity Church’s westside location (1211 Western Ave) to share food, play games, listen to live music, spit poetry and show off art work. To get involved or find out more please contact HFC team lead Jon Vales at vales212@gmail.com.
If you or someone you know is in need, please contact the HFC Office for more information on available resources.
For the Youth

With overcrowded and underfunded schools, communities filled with drugs, violence, and teenage pregnancy, and abounding poverty, Chicago’s inner city youth must overcome many obstacles in their social and academic development. HFC invites you to join us as we come alongside several organizations that do incredible work with the youth in our city:
By the Hand Club for Kids | Sunshine Gospel Ministries | LYDIA Home
To connect with a HFC team lead or to find a youth program near you, please contact the HFC office.
